About

Hey, everybody! My name is Sarah Ellis (yes, I am stupidly entrusted my name to the world. But don't worry, there are over 40 Sarah Ellises in the US), and I am trying to make my way in the world as an author. I know that there are lots of amazing authors and tons of incredible books out there, so I hope you'll spend a minute to get to know me and my writing.
Yes, I am from the Bay State, and brief writing history:
I have been writing since I could write. Storytelling has always seemed to come naturally, as has improv, so writing them down was a great advantage. I wrote my first novella in second grade. It was a book about two sisters in World War II  that had to go into hiding.
It was about 50 written pages (in huge, second grade lettering) and I still have it in one of my multiple piles of notebooks.
And yes, I have hundreds of notebooks. Hopefully, y'all have heard of Staples, which is an office store, and the second to last week of August is usually the time of a huge school supply sale. The 70 page, wide-ruled Staples brand notebooks are only 17 cents each, but the limit is thirty. Every year I buy thirty of them and use them all at least a little by the next year, when I get thirty more.
The next novella I wrote started a bit before that, but I didn't work on it seriously until about third grade. I went to Disney world when I was little, and the rides and magic inspired a title out of me, but I had no idea for a plot. Or, at least, I thought I didn't.
I dabbled in a mysterious cat appearing to a kindergartener, or a team of quirky trolls invading the house of an extraordinarily dull 8-year-old.
But, the summer after I went to Disney (I'm pretty sure 1st grade) I  began the words, "One day, quite a while ago, in the era of kings, queens, castles, war, and noble deeds, a young girl strode to her etiquette lessons." That isn't the first sentence anymore, and that wasn't a fantastic beginning, but it worked then and I wrote 3/4 of a page. Then, I gave up and started other projects.
Then, in third grade, I found the writing and began working on it seriously. It was done by the beginning of fourth grade.
When I finished it then, it was only about 8,000 words. Now, it has become a rich novella of about 25,000 words. It isn't particularly long or good or anything, but I'm still trying to finish revising it. Fortunately for my readers, I am working on recreating the ending entirely because it didn't flow well.
Last November, I completed a 32,000 word novella in 14 days for Nanowrimo. I still need to revise that and finish typing it up, but it's done and it is pretty good. No, it's pretty bad;)

In November 2015, I wrote a 60,000 word novel that I can't wait to begin revising! I love revising.

I have won various contests and done some work of some magazines, so Contact Me if you are interested in more information or to see some other stories.
